We finally had a chance to play with the iPad.

It led to an interesting conversation with Bill Seaver about the business implications. You should check out Bill's blog post about what the iPad means for social media. It's good stuff.

Here are some other thoughts on the iPad:

  1. It's useful at meetings. The iPhone OS makes it easy to turn the iPad on and off so that you can hop on Google and answer a question without having to go through the machinations of starting a laptop. The iPad is less intrusive.
  2. It's easy for two people to view at the same time. The screen is phenomenal. No more awkward angles like laptops.
  3. It's a content marketing dream. The iPad's potential is limitless. Here's how Sports Illustrated envisions its future. The only improvement standing in the way is...

Video is an interesting challenge. Apple is still not allowing Adobe Flash, which runs many of the world's video sites, on the iPad. Smart content management providers will figure out some way around this roadblock with HTML5.
